Tesla Makes Electrifying Debut in India – First Showroom Unveiled in Mumbai

American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has finally opened its first showroom in India in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. Tesla CEO Elon Musk Verchuly attended this magnificent opening ceremony on 15 July 2025 and revealed the company’s plans for the Indian market.
Initially Tesla will launch its three major models – model 3, model Y and flagship model S in India. The price of model 3 will start from ₹ 55 lakh, while the model Y ₹ 65 lakh and model s ₹ 1.25 crore will be available at a price of more than 1.25 crores. The company has also announced a special finance scheme and battery warranty for Indian customers.
Tesla has also set up its first supercharging station in India in Mumbai, where vehicles can be charged up to 80% in just 15-20 minutes. The company plans to set up more than 50 supercharging stations in major cities of the country in the next one year.
Automobile experts believe that Tesla’s entry into India will prove to be a game-changer for the electric vehicle market. However, in the Indian market, Tesla may face tough competition from domestic companies such as Tata and Mahindra, which has already made a strong hold in the market with inexpensive electric cars.
